Autorickshaw driver films 13-yr-old girl in bathroom, blackmails and rapes her

MUMBAI: A 50-year-old autorickshaw driver from Nalasopara was arrested on Friday for allegedly shooting a video of a 13-year-old neighbour while taking a bath and using the clip to blackmail her and rape her. He allegedly also made a video of the sexual assault. The police have seized his cellphone, but are yet to find the video clips.
Inspector Prakash Birajdar of Tuling police station said the sexual abuse took place about nine months back.
The matter came to light on Wednesday when the girl’s parents and the accused had a tiff. During a heated exchange of words, the accused hinted at having sexually abused the girl. The shocked parents questioned the girl and when she confirmed that he had been blackmailing her and sexually abusing her for months, they approached the police.
The accused, who is married and has teenaged children, has been booked for rape and blackmail under POCSO Act. He will be produced in court on Saturday. The girl has been sent for a medical checkup to confirm the sexual assault.
