Did man wanted in case filed by woman perform puja at CM’s official residence?
Mumbai: A day after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis invited Sindhudurg-based Parmanand Hewalekar to his official residence Varsha to perform a puja of Lord Ganesha, it was found that he was wanted in a case filed by a woman against him.
Hewalekar, along with his wife, were camping outside Mantralya against excesses against him by the local panchayat, which had banned his entry into the village.

Alarmed by his plight and following the intervention of a local police official, Fadnavis had on Thursday invited him to perform puja. In a huge embarrassment for the CM, Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant on Friday produced a warrant issued by a Kudal court against him. “Serious offences have been registered against Hewalekar. The court had told him to be present before it on August 26. Prima facie, it appears that the CM office is protecting criminals,” Sawant said.
Sawant disclosed that offences under Section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 452 and 506 have been registered against him and a charge-sheet has been filed against him in Sindhudurg district.
