ALIGARH: Aligarh SSP Love Kumar has been suspended, and the events that preceded his suspension are political in nature involving student leaders of Samajwadi Party and Bhartiya Janta Party (ABVP). For past one week, the Dharm Samaj College in Aligarh has been the battleground of student politics. It all started on August 31, when one of the SP student leader Muntazim Kidwai was allegedly attacked by ABVP leaders Dhiraj Chaudhury and Sanju Bajaj near the College premises.
Following this, Kidwai complaint at Gandhi Park police station against the two leaders and eight unidentified men. SP City AK Srivastava said, “One of the named in the complaint, Dhiraj, has been arrested in the case of attempt to murder and loot. It will be investigated.”
After the attack the SP student leaders and their supporters entered the College premise on September 1, disrupted law classes in order to protest against the attack on Kidwai. Taking note of the indiscipline the College administration suspended SP student leaders Ziaur Rahman, Muntazim Kidwai and Ranjit Chaudhury.
Anjana Bansal, Principal, wrote to the SSP Love Kumar and DM Rajmani Yadav couple of days ago about the prevailing lawlessness. Meanwhile, the girl students of SV and DS College wrote to the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav alleging “eve-teasing” and told him to “relieve the College girls of SP student leaders.”
Bansal vehemently denied “eve-teasing on campus” and said that it is getting political with the involvement of student leaders of various political parties. She said, “There was a clash between two groups of students. We have suspended three leaders for indiscipline, they cannot enter the campus for one month. This matter has been politicized.”
