7 flaws that you won't miss in Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amy Jackson's Freaky Ali!

Freaky Ali stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Amy Jackson in the lead, and is based around the sport of golf. Now this is a sport that has never been the core theme of any Bollywood movie, unless you see a villain playing golf in a scene to show that he is rich while scheming how to take down his opponents. The film is directed by Sohail Khan, the director of films like Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya and Jai Ho, who for the first time has not cast big brother Salman Khan or himself in the lead. # Story by Sohail Khan!!!

When you saw the promo, the first thing that came to our mind is Whoa! It is so similar to Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore, which is also about an outsider becoming a golf pro all of a sudden, and his frequent clashes with a golf champion. Except for that subplot of Danger Bhai and his gang, the main plot is creepily similar to the Hollywood film, only less humorous. It's okay to have screenplay credits, Sohail, but taking credit for the story? That's a bit too much!

# Ali is a meanie to kids...

In the first scene, where Nawaz is shown selling underwear (a terrific performance here), a kid comes to buy red chuddie from him. For no reason, Ali is super mean to the kid, making fun of his speech defect (he lisps) and also his weight. It's like watching a Kapil Sharma show, where he trolls the audience on their appearances. And then Ali wonders why he is not getting much business...

# ...and also to old people

Freaky Ali wants us to believe that our protagonist is a God-fearing guy who loves his mother dearly. However, he has no qualms in extortioning money from old people, as in the film, he and his best friend threaten an old lady to give money for her own safety. He later also calls an old man Walking Dead (though I admit that was funny).

# All those jokes on erectile dysfunction, women, and old age again

It is not easy to sympathise with Ali and his friend, Maqsood, when they make so many jokes and also mutter if women are part of a package they have book while on tour. Nikitin Dheer's character is often poked fun of for not being able to satisfy his women in bed.

# Why exactly is Amy Jackson attracted to Ali?

Ali - Megha's love story is the least developed track of the film, thanks to the fact that we can't find out when these two actually fell in love during the entire time. Amy Jackson's character is shown being smitten with Ali from the first time they meet, just because he hit a good golfing shot. In fact, she even loses her job thanks her fascination for the man, and spends the rest of the time being Ali's arm candy. So much for women empowerment!

# When nothing works, bring God!

Towards the end of the film, Jas Arora's character is seen breaking Ali's character to win the final match next day. The doctor says Ali can't play, but an evening of bhajan (both Hindu and Muslim style) make Ali inspired enough bring on the game next day. And we thought we left such religious interferences two decades ago! And pray, tell me how wearing a sweater named Ali can help you overcome a fractured hand!

# Jackie Shroff's silly cameo

Jackie Shroff makes a stylish entry for sure, balancing himself on two golf carts a la Ajay Devgn in Phool Aur Kaante. Immediately it is ruined when one of his men exclaims that he is suffering from piles, so he can't sit! From thereon, the level of buffoonery that has been meted out to Jackie Shroff's character ruins the seriousness of the final match. Why was this cameo even required is something only Sohail Khan can answer!
