The 35-year-old fraudster had tricked around 15 people and duped them of Rs 15 lakh promising them to provide them some job in the film industry at Mumbai. The accused, Aditya Kulshrestra, who hails from Madhya Pradesh came to Rudraprayag about a year back and was working in an ashram.
After cheating his victims he went hiding about three months back and was untraceable. Working on the case police were able to trace his whereabouts in the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh.
Prahlad Narayan Meena, SP, Rudraprayag, told TOI, “First Kulshrestra told his targets that he had good contacts in the film industry and could land them in some kind of job. After winning their confidence, he convinced them to shell out a good amount, if they wanted a job. One after another, he duped around 15 people of Rs 15 lakh.”
