A day after his TV comedy show judge Navjot Sidhu launched his political front Awaaz-e-Punjab, Kapil Sharma today took a jibe at PM Narendra Modi, questioning the ‘achhe din’ claim after he was allegedly asked by BMC officials to pay bribe for the ongoing construction work at his new work place. In an angry tweet, Kapil tagged the PM questioning the ‘ bribe’ he was asked to pay for the construction of his new work place. Kapil said he pays around Rs 15 crore income tax every year, yet he needs to pay a Rs 5 lakh bribe to the BMC to build his office. BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) is the civic body of Greater Mumbai.
Kapil’s tweet came as shocker not only for the BMC and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, who promised swift action, but also the Twitterati who couldn’t stop themselves from sharing their reactions, even as it was a happy Friday morning. While some stood in solidarity with the comedian, some questioned his “hypocrisy”, doubting if his tweets were politically motivated.
Here are how some of them reacted:
What is the connection in paying Rs 15 crores towards Income tax and bribe demand of Rs 5 lakhs to BMC.? Funny “Kapil Sharma”

But Kapil Sharma never complains when he has to bribe Navjot Singh Sidhu to laugh on his every joke. Hypocrisy?

Don’t troll Kapil Sharma. He raised a valid concern & CM promised action. This is good. Compare this with UP & Bihar where no one reacts.

Soon after Kapil posted his tweet, Maharashtra CM stepped in and promised swift action. “Kapilbhai pls provide all info. Have directed MC,BMC to take strictest action. We will not spare the culprit. @KapilSharmaK9 @narendramodi,” he tweeted.
