AHMEDABAD: In a significant development, the crime branch of Ahmedabad cracked the case of defaming saints of Kalupur Swaminarayan temple by arresting Swami Ghanshyam Prasad of Vadodara for allegedly uploading objectionable posts on a social networking site against the saints.
Inspector SL Chaudhary of crime branch said one Ritesh Patel, resident of Krishna bungalows of Maninagar and a disciple of Kalupur Swaminarayan Sampraday, had lodged a complaint that he found out, in March 2016, that a few pages of a weekly uploaded on a social networking site contained highly objectionable contents about the Swaminarayan Sect.

"The objectionable posts continued on the social networking site through the month of March and thus Patel was forced to lodge a complaint with the crime branch," added Chaudhary.
Patel had mentioned in the complaint that Managaing Director of the weekly Parth Shah, Swami Ghanshyam Prasad and one Nilesh alias Chota PP were saints of Swaminarayan sect and one Dhaval Patel was disciple of Ghanshyam Prasad, added a crime branch official.
"The complainant also mentioned that due to their anti-sect activities, they were expelled from the sect and hence were continuously defaming Swaminarayan Sect" added a crime branch source.
Probing the complaint, they found that all the accused were involved in the posting of objectionable contents printed in the weekly on the social networking site. "We have then on a tip-off arrested Swami Ghanshyam Prasad from Kalol on Wednesday," added Inspector Chaudhary.
