BJP workers burn effigy of Azam

BJP workers, on Wednesday, burnt the effigy of senior UP cabinet minister Azam Khan in Kidwai Nagar area of the city.

KANPUR: BJP workers, on Wednesday, burnt the effigy of senior UP cabinet minister Azam Khan in Kidwai Nagar area of the city.
The workers and policemen also had a scuffle during the protest. The city unit of BJP burnt the effigy on the call given by the state leadership. The protest 'Dr Baba Ambedkar Ke Samman Main, BJP Maidan Main' was staged against Azam Khan's alleged statement against DR B R Ambedkar during his address his address in Ghaziabad on Monday.

The BJP leaders said that Azam Khan, though, did not take the name of Dr Ambedkar in his address but insulted a great leader who laid the constitution of the country. Azam had said that the statue pointing its finger into the distance, seems to say that not only does it own the plot of land on which it stands, but also the one towards which it points. The BJP staged protests across the state. In Kanpur, the protest was led by district president (south city) Anita Gupta.
