Jassi lifts Annual Seswan Wrestling Competition title

KATHUA, Sept 7: The Annual Seswan Wrestling Com-petition was organized here today.
The Competition which attracted enthusiastic crowd of more than twelve thousand people was organized by Kewal Krishan Sangra, popularly known as Munnu Master, who has been organizing Seswan Dangal since last several years out of his own resources without any assistance from the Government.
On the occasion, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, was the chief guest who declared the competition open in presence of Prof Ram Krishan Sharma and Ganesh Dutt Sharma, Retd Chief Accounts Officer, who were the guests of honour.
A large number of Sarpanches, Panches and other prominent persons of the area participated in the competition.
Yogesh Singh, Sarpanch, Sat Paul Sangra and Parveen Sharma of LSDA assisted in organizing competition.
The wrestlers from Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and J&K participated in the competition. Some wrestlers who has represented at national level also took part in wrestling.
The event was marked by around 40 wrestling competitions in which the wrestlers showed their vigour and talent. The enthusiastic crowd was on toes when Jassi Pahalwan of Patti Punjab defeated Bhupinder Pahlwan of Ajnala-Punjab. He was awarded cash prize of Rs 70,000 and a memento by the organizers.
Dr Bharat Bhushan, Additional Deputy Commis-sioner, Kathua said that wrestling promotes good health and keeps youth away from bad habits.
He awarded Master Kewal Krishan Sangra, Sardari Lal, referee of the event, who had represented Country and winner of the competition Jassi Pahalwan of Patti Punjab.
A large number of make-shift shops and stalls and children play-way equipments were also centre of attraction.
