NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man, Rinki Malik, allegedly committed suicide in east Delhi’s Farsh Bazar early on Wednesday.
His body was found hanging from the ceiling fan by his father, Kishan, who had woken up to drink water at 4am.
The youth was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. No suicide note has been recovered by the police.
Kishan told the police that he saw the shadow of Rinki’s body hanging from the fan when he passed by his room, which is adjacent to the kitchen.

His son’s room was locked and he did not respond to Kishan calling out for him. Rinki’s mother also awoke and started banging on the door. The loud noise woke up the neighbours and they helped Kishan break down the door.
The neighbours told the police that while Kishan took Rinki to the hospital, his mother started searching for a suicide note. Kishan called the police from the hospital after doctors declared him brought dead.
The youth’s family said that Rinki was under depression for the past few months. He stayed confined to his room and did not interact with people. He worked at a photo shop nearby, but had stopped going there from the past one week.
