I couldn't resist being part of Goli Soda
Considering that veteran actress Tara is extra choosy about the roles she takes up these days, after the birth of her son, it is natural for us to assume that her role in the upcoming Kannada film Goli Soda must be something that's worth her time. She confirms, 'Rather than the length of screen presence, I am looking at playing characters that are important and meaningful to the script.
If I had not accepted this role, I would have missed out on playing one of the best roles in my career.'
However, the actress tells us it took her time to decide to be a part of this one. 'I had watched the original version of this film and the role offered to me was, in fact, a good one. But I found that film to be strong on Tamil nativity. I was not sure if people here would relate to the lives of those portrayed in the story as much as Tamil audiences would. But the director asked me to accompany him for half a day, during which he took me to some areas in KR Market. I was shocked to see the relevance this story has in our own city. I saw that I was the one who was misinformed and therefore agreed to be a part of the film immediately,' she says.
Tara plays the role of a supervisor of sorts in a slum in the city. 'The place has a lot of young orphans growing up with the idea that the world around them is what life is all about. I help change their outlook and, in a way, show them there is more to life than just what they see around them. It is an inspiring role,' she explains.
