The Hyundai ix25, known elsewhere as the Creta, will receive a turbocharged petrol engine in China by the end of this year (2016). The ix25 1.6 T-GDI will come with a 1.6-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine rated 160 bhp and a hefty 250 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful ix25 variant on sale. In comparison, the 1.6-litre Gamma VTVT petrol engine available in India develops just 123 bhp and 151 Nm of torque.

The new, turbocharged engine will be strapped to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels of the new ix25 1.6 T-GDI. The new variant can be differentiated from the outside courtesy a refreshed front grille with twin, perforated slats, additional air inlets on the front bumper, a new rear diffuser-like element at the rear hosting twin exhaust tips, and newly designed, 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the ix25 T-GDi variant sports an all-black colour scheme with orange contrast stitching on the leather seats and the leather wrapped, a multi-function steering wheel. Other notable features include a 7-inch touchscreen equipped infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, key-less start, and a reverse parking camera with parking sensors. Safety equipment on the ix25 1.6 T-GDI include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESP.  The ix25 1.6 T-GDI was unveiled at the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show but hasn’t gone on sale ever since.
