A company belonging to the Tourism Ministry has been tasked with managing the Giza Pyramids monument area, according to a protocol to be signed soon by the ministers of tourism and antiquities.

The deal was agreed in a meeting on Tuesday between Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the ministers of housing, antiquities and tourism, as well as the governor of Giza, at which the management of the historic area was discussed.

Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anany said during the meeting that one company has been contracted to keep the area clean, at a cost of LE5 million per year, adding that there is an agreement with Interior Ministry to increase the number of police officers securing the area.

The meeting also discussed the illumination of the area, in accordance with UNESCO recommendations.

As for the security cameras, Anany said there are talks between his ministry and Military Production Ministry over the matter.

Anany added that there is a plan to install regulatory signs in four different languages: Arabic, English, French and Japanese.
