Gujarat Minister pitches for biometric system to ensure regular presence of Talatis in office

Gandhinagar: Panchayat minister of Gujarat, Jayantibhai Kavadia today admired Bhavnagar district administration for implementing bio-metrics and suggested that such model should be replicated across Gujarat.

Speaking at digital connectivity launching function in capital Gandhinagar, Jayantibhai Kavadia said, “yesterday we met Bhavnagar district development officer and obtained details from him regarding the biometric system implemented by Bhavnagar district administration to check attendance of village Talatis.”

“Generally, village people make complain regarding absence of Talatis in office. With biometric system in place in Bhavnagar district, talatis have started seeking permission for leave at DDO office. DDO sitting in his office can keep track whether a talati in so-and-so village is absent or not,” Kavadia said in function in which Chief Minister Rupani was present.

The minister further said that he would meet Chief Minister and Chief Secretary to suggest that this system should be brought to each district in order to end the complains regarding absence of talati at village level. The expenses would be around Rs 30 lakh only, he added.
