Egyptian films Nawara and Hepta were selected as the opening and closing films of the 6th Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden, which opens on 30 September and runs till 5 October.

Both films are also set to compete in the category of best feature.

Nawara earned two best actress awards for star Menna Shalaby at the 12th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) in December 2015, and at Morocco’s Tetouan International Mediterranean Film Festival in April 2016.

The film is set in the wake of the 2011 revolution, centering on a woman in her twenties who works as a housemaid at a villa in a luxury compound.

As the owners flee the politically unstable country, she invites her fiancé over, and together they enjoy a taste of the life of the rich and famous.

Nawara was released in Egyptian cinemas in May 2016.

Director Hala Khalil will attend the film’s Swedish premiere.

Hepta was a big box office success upon its release in Egyptian cinemas in April 2016. It follows a lecture by a social psychologist discussing the seven stages of love.

The film blends four different love stories that experience the different stages between crises and pleasures.

Hepta's director Hadi El Bagoury will introduce the film, along with the cast members Maged El Kedwany, Yasmin Raeis and Amr Youssef.
