Bike collision: One dead in Bengaluru

The deceased, identified as Vijayakumar, was a resident of Uganavadi village and a mason by profession, the police said.

Bengaluru: A 32-year-old bike rider died after a speeding imported bike rammed into his bike in Devanahalli in North East Bengaluru on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Vijayakumar, was a resident of Uganavadi village and a mason by profession, the police said.

The accused bike rider, Shrikar, 20, is a student and a resident of Koramangala. He sustained injuries on his face and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

According to the police, the accident happened around 10.30 am at the Chikkasanne Gate on NH7 when Vijayakumar was crossing the highway on his bike (KA-43-K-6025). Shrikar was riding is Ducati Monster (registration number KA-05-JV-2205), with his sister on the pillion, in a rash and negligent manner. Shrikar’s sister escaped unhurt, the police said. Due to the impact of the collision, both the bikes were badly damaged, the police added.

Shrikar and his sister were coming back from Nandi Hills, while Vijayakumar was on his way to a construction site for work. Vijayakumar was rushed to neaby Akash Hospital nearby in a vehicle, but died on the way, the police said. Shrikar was undergoing treatment at the same hospital, the police added. The body was shifted to Devanahalli Taluk hospital for post-mortem. Devanahalli traffic police have registered a case.
