HYDERABAD: SOT sleuths of Cyberabad have raided on a gambling den at Prakasham Panthulu Nagar in Jagadgirigutta and arrested six persons indulging in three-card gambling. Police seized Rs 9,360 cash and five cellphones from their possession. The accused were remanded in judicial custody.
Suspicion over polytechnic student's death: A 17-year-old polytechnic student died at her house under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday.
The victim was, Sahiti, student of Anurag Polytechnic college in Ghatkesar. Sahiti lost her parents when she was a child and since then she had been staying with her grandmother at Medipally. On Monday night, Sahiti slipped and fell in the bathroom and suffered an injury on her left jaw. According to police, after suffering the injury, she went bedroom to sleep. "Sahiti did not wake up from the sleep and at 8 am her grandmother noticed that something was wrong and sought help from the neighbours. Subsequently, she was declared brought dead at a local hospital," Medipally inspector B Naveen Reddy said.
Relatives of the girl alleged that Sahiti's grandmother might have killed the girl to own her properties. Cops registered a suspicious death case under section 174 of CrPC.
Inter student commits suicide over a petty issue: Upset with the mother who did not agree to braid her hair, a 17-year-old Intermediate student committed suicide at their house in Karmanghat on Tuesday. The victim was Bhagyalakshmi from Kranti Nagar in Karmanghat. On Tuesday afternoon, Bhagyalakshmi asked her mother to braid her hair, which the latter refused to do due to busy work schedule. Upset, the teenage girl hung herself to the ceiling fan with a stole. Saroornagar police registered a case under section 174 of CrPC.
Man arrested for stealing Rs 6.7 lakh from parked car: LB Nagar police arrested a 25 year-old-man for stealing Rs 6.7 lakh cash from a parked car at LB Nagar recently. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the thief, M Srinu, at Kodad in Nalgonda district and recovered the entire stolen cash from his possession on Tuesday.
2 auto drivers booked under Police Act: Bhavani Nagar police booked two auto drivers, Syed Bin Mahmood and Md Mazhar, for indulging in street fight on Monday night. After the incident, both the auto drivers, who were in intoxicated condition, came to police station to lodge complaints against each other.
At the police station, Mahmood created nuisance and even manhandled a sub-inspector (SI). Police booked the duo under section 323 of the IPC and section 71 of the City Police Act.
