SURAT: Two brothers were arrested from Rameshwar Nagar on Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping, raping and murdering a five-year-old girl whose body was recently recovered from the bushes behind Devkinandan School in Pandesara area of the city. The accused kidnapped the child and murdered her soon after rape on September 2, police said, adding that they have strong evidence against them.

Police arrested Chandradev Premlal Chauhan, 28, and his brother Kamlesh, 20, who are from Tahirpur village in Sikrara taluka of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh, after tracing them from their mobile phone locations and CCTV footages.
Vaginal swab test done under ultraviolet light has confirmed that the child was raped. Police have also got CCTV footages of the accused carrying the body to dump it. One of the accused had suffered injury on his private part while committing rape on the child and this was confirmed during his medical examination.
The accused had lured the child from near her house by offering her a biscuit. They took the child to their room and raped her after covering her mouth with their hands. The child had died of suffocation.
Police found that Chandradev was present at Mukti Nagar crossroads from where the child was kidnapped from his mobile phone location. Later, his presence was established in his room about one kilometre from the spot from where the child was kidnapped. His presence was also found at the spot where the body was dumped. Chandradev kept a watch on police movements at the house of the child after her body was found and this too was established by his mobile phone location, police said, adding that during questioning the accused had confessed to the crime.
"We identified the accused from their suspicious movements and arrested them. They will be produced in a court and we will request their police custody," said N L Desai, police inspector, Pandesara police station.
