After making waves with five back-to-back releases under big banners last year, Parul Yadav has five more projects in hand and is eager to do more work. Although she started off in the Kannada film industry with just one or two projects a year, the actor feels it is a calculated move that has got her this far.

Her current lineup includes ‘Cottonpete’, ‘Vijayaditya’ and ‘Seizer’ and each of these are
different in content.  In an interview with Nina C George, Parul talks about what keeps her on her toes.

What got you to sign ‘Seizer’?
The first thing that struck me about the project was the title and then I found the role to be a very different one. I play the character of a don’s daughter opposite Chiranjeevi Sarja. My character is similar to what Deepika played in ‘Chennai Express’ but the films aren’t similar.
I signed this project two years ago and now we have started working on it.

How is it working with ‘Duniya’ Vijay again in ‘Cottonpete’?
My previous project with Vijay was a huge success and now again in ‘Cottonpete’, you will see Vijay indulge in some non-stop action on screen. It’s a neat love story and it was a
conscious decision to choose this one because I haven’t done a full-fledged romantic movie in a long time.

We hear that your next  project‘Vijayaditya’ is an animation movie?
Yes, it has been conceptualised on the lines of ‘Magadheera’. There’s a bit of animation and the story first goes into the past and then rides into the future. I cannot talk too much about it but I am looking forward to working on it.

Do you think you have too much on your plate this year?
I am greedy when it comes to work. I had five releases last year and I am ready to take on more work. I don’t like my plate half-full.

What do you think has brought you so far?
I did my homework before I started my career in the Kannada film industry.
I spent a lot of time understanding what sells here and I think I made the right moves at the right time.

What is your criteria for signing a project?
It may sound silly when I say this but I sign only those projects that have the potential to fetch me awards or recognition. And the script must suit my taste.

Are you content working in Kannada?
I don’t want to go looking for work in other languages because I am happy with my work in Kannada.  I don’t want to shuttle between too many things and lose what I already have.
