In a gruesome incident, a group of people in Bihar’s Chhapra, tied a man to a tree and thrashed him for allegedly carrying liquor bottles with him. As seen in the video, a group of 6-10 men surround the man and start beating him mercilessly. The man, stripped to his undergarments, pleads for mercy and cries in pain as one of the men  beats him with a thick wooden stick. News agency ANI tweeted the video reportedly recorded on September 5.

Reacting to the video, many Twitteratis started comparing the incident with recent cow vigilante incidents, where some videos were recorded in similar fashion by some ‘Gau Rakshaks’ and shared online. It should be noted that there is a complete ban on sale of liquor in the state of Bihar. The state government had on April 1 imposed a ban on country-made liquor in Bihar, which was soon followed by a complete ban on Indian made foreign liquor as well.
