NEW DELHI: A day after Bijwasan MLA Devinder Sehrawat alleged that women in Punjab were being exploited by AAP representatives in return for tickets, party observer for Punjab Sanjay Singh threatened him with defamation, saying that this was the act of a disgruntled man.
"Sehrawat has claimed that women are being exploited for tickets. Where is the proof for this? There is no proof. Sehrawat has contested elections thrice on AAP ticket. He contested the assembly election in 2013 and lost, he contested the Lok Sabha election in 2014 and lost. He finally won the 2015 assembly election. If he has any ethics or morals, will he please say what favours he gave to the party to get tickets thrice," asked Singh.

"He has embarrassed the women of Punjab, the people of Punjab. Because this is an issue linked to my character, I will file a defamation case against Sehrawat and he will have to prove this case in court. He is indulging in character assassination only because he is disgruntled."

Singh further alleged that this was a conspiracy by BJP and Akali Dal as they were worried about losing to AAP in the upcoming assembly elections."When the Quran is insulted in Punjab, they arrest an MLA from Delhi. Now, they are using another MLA from Delhi to create this controversy. If you find any proof in these allegations, I will quit politics," he said. The party has said that action will be initiated against Sehrawat after CM Arvind Kejriwal returns to Delhi on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Sehrawat wrote an open letter to Kejriwal, saying that he had gone to Chandigarh on a "fact finding mission", to gather proof against senior members against whom he had heard allegations of sexual misconduct.

Sehrawat has been ignored by the party after he supported the claim of former AAP members Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan that they were roughed up during the party's meeting and physically thrown out from the meeting held in early 2015.
