In a motor accident case, the tribunal recently awarded a compensation of Rs 13 lakh to a 10-year-old, who was inhumanly dragged by a motor bus, which was a Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) undertaking. The tribunal thus asked the insurance firm to cough up the amount along with 9% of interest on the same, starting from 2010.

The case dates back to July 2010, when Kush Hinduja (10), a resident of Navi Mumbai was out on his bicycle to play with his pals. Unfortunately, the moment the kid moved out of his complex, a bus driven negligently and in a rash manner dashed the bicycle, thus dragging the kid and the bicycle upto a considerable distance. The driver of the vehicle on realising his mistake, eloped from the spot of accident, leaving the vehicle in gear.

The wheel of the bicycle was stuck under the wheel, thus injuring Hinduja's left hand. The incident was noticed by the onlookers and they jumped into the vehicle to get the vehicle in neutral mode.

According to the hospital, the kid now suffers from 30% disability. The tribunal asked the directorate of insurance, government insurance firm to file its reply, to which, the firm maintained that it was the sole responsibility of the eloped driver.
