Youth goes missing in sea

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 19-year-old youth is feared dead after he went missing in sea at Kovalam beach on Sunday morning. Ajmal Khan, son of Abdul Rahman and Noorjahan of Vizhinjam is the one who went missing.
According to the police, the mishap occurred around 8am at the beach near Inspection Bunglow at Kovalam. Ajmal Khan had come to the beach along with three other friends following a game of football.He was swept away by waves when he stepped into the water to wash his legs. Though his friends, Jaleel, Abdulla and Shamnad dived into the sea after him, they could not save him. Search operations launched by the police too did not yield any result.
Ajmal is the youngest of five siblings and was a Hotel Management student.
This is the third incident of drowning in the past four months in Vizhinjam region. On May 27, Thodupuzha native Sanoop, 24, had drowned in Vizhinjam bollard region. The mishap occurred at midnight when he arrived here along with friends. The second person to drown was Shaiju, 26, of Karakulam. He went missing in Vizhinjam Valiya Kadappuram beach on May 29. His body was retrieved three days later. TNN
