VHP's Togadia praises Nitish for liquor ban in Bihar

PATNA: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) international working president Praveen Togadia on Sunday praised Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for enforcing total prohibition in the state. The statement has taken many by surprise as the opposition BJP in the state has been criticizing Nitish for enforcing the “draconian law” in Bihar in the name of total liquor ban since April 5.
“I congratulate CM Nitish Kumar on successfully enforcing total prohibition in the state. It should be implemented across the country for the health, social and financial benefits of the people,” said Togadia, who was in the city to inaugurate a “health ambassador training camp”.
Togadia claimed that the decision to ban liquor in Bihar has received good response in many parts of the country and hoped everyone would appreciate the move some day.
The cancer surgeon-turned-religious leader is spreading his wings into healthcare sector through VHP’s initiative ‘India Health Line’ (IHL), which has launched a nationwide de-addiction campaign through its teams of health ambassadors and medical experts.
Talking about the IHL, Togadia said over 4,000 people from across the country have been trained in the health training camps in the past two years. Altogether 172 volunteers from various districts of the state attended the camp. “The health ambassadors will be equipped with medical instruments to test the patients on call for their fat, sugar, blood pressure and anaemia,” he said.
He also launched de-addiction medicine for tobacco and alcohol and sticks to test blood sugar. “If consumed every day by mixing in food, which in most of the cases will have to be mixed by the family members of alcoholics, the medicine will stop addiction to alcohol gradually,” he added.
