PESHAWAR, SHABQADAR, JAMRUD: Two security officials and a policeman were killed in separate bomb attacks in different areas of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The attacks came days after terrorists targeted the district courts in Mardan and a Christian colony on the outskirts of Peshawar that left at least 15 people dead and injured 55 others.

An improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the roadside in Koz Chamarkand area of Safi tehsil in Mohmand, went off just as a Frontier Corp bomb disposal patrol passed by.  The blast left Sepoy Zarbad Shah critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Separately, an IED planted by the roadside in Mamad Gat, Safi, went off, killing Khasadar official Nabi.

Later on Sunday evening, a special police officer (community police) was killed and three passers-by injured when a Mathura police station van came under attack from an IED on Pajjagi Road on the outskirts of Peshawar.

“Naveed, the only man in the vehicle at the time of the blast, was killed on the spot,” SP Rural Shaukat Khan told The Express Tribune. The blast also injured 10-year-old Sudaish, 40-year-old Yousuf and a minor.

He added that the bomb weighed around three kilogrammes and was detonated by remote control.

Early on Sunday, a suspected militant was arrested following a firefight during a joint operation of the Khasadars and security forces in Malagori area of Jamrud.
