Bavdhan cops get 24-hour patrol vehicle

PUNE: Bavdhan will now have a patrol vehicle specifically for the area thanks to an initiative undertaken by Hinjewadi police and the newly formed Bavdhan Industrial Association (BIA).
The vehicle's keys were handed over the city police on Sunday. The vehicle will carry out patrolling in Bavdhan area. The Bavdhan police chowky is the first police chowkey in the Pune police commissionerate that will now have a separate vehicle for patrolling.
Additional commissioner of police (north region) Shashikant Shinde said that the initiative signifies is the unique example of the cooperation between the police and public.
"This will help the police curb crimes in Bavdhan area," Shinde said. The officer also made an appealed to the residents of Bavdhan to form teams and carry out patrolling in the area in an effort to make it crime-freeso that the area will become crime free.
Senior inspector from Hinjewadi police station Arun Waykar added, "Policemen from Bavdhan police chowky and two private security guards, employed by BIA, will carry out round-the-clock surveillance in the area. We will also provide them a wireless set." Waykar said.
The distance between Bavdhan police chowky and Hinjewadi police station is about 15 kms. Bavdhan residents found were finding it very difficult to get police aid immediately. "There was hardly any a patrolling in the area. The police marshals riding on a motorcycle do carry out patrolling but not very frequently in the area. But that too was not frequent, particularly in the night," said a local resident of Bavdhan.

Amit Dolas, assistant inspector of the Bavdhan police chowky, who took the initiative in the project explained, "We will use the vehicle for patrolling in residential areas, common and unoccupied spaces at Bavdhan. A part of Katraj-Dehu Road bypass goes via Bavdhan. This vehicle will help us patrol Bavdhan area too," Dolas said. Dolas stated that BIA has agreed to provide one more patrol vehicle and an ambulance to the police.
Dolas said that apart from patrolling this vehicle will also help the police in curbing the crime in the area. "Seeing the vehicle with beacon on it, the suspects will think twice before committing any offence," Dolas added.
Dolas said that the BIA has also agreed to give an ambulance and one more patrolling vehicle to the police, he said.
Inspector Waykar said that Hinjewadi Industried Association (HIA) has already given three patrolling vehicles to the Hinjewadi police station. These vehicle are helping the police with their round-the-clock surveillance of the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park.
