Nine-year-old girl knocks at Chief Minister's cell

September 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 22, 2016 05:23 pm IST - MADURAI:

A nine-year-old girl, K. Mitthra, has appealed to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa seeking transfer for her mother, a Block Resource Teacher, posted in Tiruttani, to Madurai.

In two identical petitions sent to the CM Cell here on Friday, Mitthra and her elder sister, K. Sharmili (12), have said that they have been forced to live with their grandparents ever since her mother, B. Kavitha, was transferred to Tirutani in 2014.

“Since my father is on round-the-clock duty as a head constable, he could not take care of us in the absence of our mother ,” Mitthra said in her petition. Expressing her longing to be with her parents, the young girl said that had her mother been posted in any of the regular schools, she would have got opportunity to be with the children at least during annual vacation.

“She visits us only during government holidays,”the girl said in the petition.
