Speeding truck kills conductor giving direction to bus driver

A BMTC conductor helping his driver to navigate their bus from a main road to a service road was killed after being hit by a truck on Tumakuru Road in Peenya, northwest Bengaluru, on Sunday morning.

BENGALURU: A BMTC conductor helping his driver to navigate their bus from a main road to a service road was killed after being hit by a truck on Tumakuru Road in Peenya, northwest Bengaluru, on Sunday morning.
The conductor was behind the bus which was reversing and didn't notice the speeding truck which was coming from the rear. The accident took place around 6.30am near the Police Station Junction between Yeshwantpur and Jalahalli.

Shivalingaiah, 55, conductor on Route No. 265A going from Kempegowda bus terminal and Peenya II Stage, got out of the bus as the main road was congested. Shivalingaiah was directing driver Basaveshwara to reverse the bus when a sand-laden, Tumakuru-bound truck hit him.
The conductor suffered severe head injuries and collapsed on the road. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared dead on arrival. The truck driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind. Shivalingaiah, who hailed from Kenchaviranahalli in Gubbi, Tumakuru, was working with the 22nd depot of BMTC.
