Nepal got off to a worst possible start in the 42nd Chess Olympiad in Baku, Ajerbaijan on Friday.
While the men’s team, comprising of Keshav Shrestha, Sajin Maharjan, Bhupendra Niraula and Kshitiz Bhandari lost 4-0 to Sweden, the women’s team lost to Canada with the same scorelines. Sindira Joshi, Ashmita Adhikari, Monalisa Khamboo and Shanta Thapa made up the women’s team.
The men’s team will play Nicaragua and the women’s team will be up against Portugal in the second round.
