98kg marijuana recovered from abandoned vehicle

In a major seizure, police on Saturday recovered 98 kg of marijuana from an abandoned Bolero near Amsena village on Sakri-Pendrideeh bypass road under Hirri police station. The smugglers managed to escaped in another vehicle before they could be arrested.

BILASPUR: In a major seizure, police on Saturday recovered 98 kg of marijuana from an abandoned Bolero near Amsena village on Sakri-Pendrideeh bypass road under Hirri police station. The smugglers managed to escaped in another vehicle before they could be arrested.
According to information, police received a tip-off that two men carrying large quantity of marijuana were heading to Bilaspur.
While police tried to intercept the vehicle, the smugglers left it near a petrol pump and escaped in another vehicle.
Police searched the Bolero and recovered 67 packets, containing a total of 98kg of marijuana. Police have impounded the vehicle and have registered cases under NDPS Act against unidentified smugglers. Besides, police also recovered two different registration number plates of Odisha and UP.
