SILCHAR: Nepal Shuklabaidya (50), a ward boy in Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), was allegedly murdered by a patient's attendant on Friday evening while on duty.
A senior police official said Nepal had an altercation with Ranjit Shuklabaidya (20), a patient's attendant. Ranjit pushed Nepal against a wall suddenly, injuring Nepal critically.
Nepal was admitted to the hospital's ICU but succumbed to his injuries at night. Employees of SMCH then caught Ranjit and handed him over to police. Police took him into custody at the Ghungur outpost. The police officer said Ranjit confessed to the crime, following which a Silchar court on Saturday sent him to judicial custody.
Silchar Medical College principal Shilpi Rani Barman promised adequate compensation to Nepal's next of the kin.
