All Right broke his maiden in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile S. at a big price with a stalk-and-pounce trip. The chestnut finished second in his Aug. 14 debut going a mile on the Ellis lawn after a wide trip and was dismissed at 44-1 in this spot. Breaking well from the outside post, he tracked the pace of fellow longshot Cold Snack Thirty (Backtalk) from second, about two lengths out. Moving to take control at the top of the lane, All Right spurted away in the lane before holding off the late bid of Parlor to prevail by a neck. “It was sort of a last-minute decision [to enter],” admitted winning trainer Kellyn Gorder. “We looked at it and said it was only $750 to enter, 'Let's take a look.' This horse is so well-balanced that I thought he really would handle the up-and-down of this course. I galloped this horse about a month ago, and hadn't been back on him. I rode him three days ago. I came back into the barn and I don't usually tout horses. I said, 'It's going to be fun to win a maiden for $350,000.'” Co-owner Bill Helwig agreed. “My partner and Kellyn and I talked about it and we all agreed it was worth a shot. He ran a big race at Ellis the first time. But the winner of the race slowed it down so much that there wasn't any way to catch him. But he had some real gas at the end of that race.”

All Right has a yearling full-sister named Reinita and his dam was bred to Birdrun this year. He sold for $20,000 after working a furlong in :10 2/5 at this year's OBSAPR sale. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
