ITBP jawan, two students assaulted in Howrah

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan Sudipto Chakraborty was allegedly assaulted by local goons who demanded a sum of Rs 2,000 from him for riding his bike on a bandh day at Howrah's Bagnan on Friday night.

HOWRAH: Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan Sudipto Chakraborty was allegedly assaulted by local goons who demanded a sum of Rs 2,000 from him for riding his bike on a bandh day at Howrah's Bagnan on Friday night. Two Bagnan college student pillion riders with him were also assaulted. All three are being treated in Bagnan hospital. Police is searching for local goon Mithun Ghosh who allegedly led the assault.
Chakraborty, posted in Ladakh, had come home to Bagnan's Manpur on leave.
He was returning home on his bike and picked up neighbours Chintu Dolui and Diganta Das from Bagnan college. Suddenly, Ghosh and his accomplices allegedly waylaid them and asked how dare they ride a bike on a bandh day. Chakraborty alleged, "Ghosh demanded that we pay them Rs 2,000 for drinking. They hit us when I refused."
