KOLKATA: A section of medical aspirants protested at KPC Medical College and Hospital on Saturday, a day after the names of 77 selected candidates for the reserved category based on the NEET score was published. Some alleged the college had informed that the students will be selected based on the NEET score. However, the applicants claimed they were denied admission despite getting a higher score in NEET than those who have been selected.

"The admission procedure is faulty. They selected the candidates based on their poor financial status and not on merit. We asked to meet the principal but we were denied. We will move to the court on Monday. I have a category rank of 10000. The last person on merit list has got a 174468 category rank. The merit list doesn't mention categories like OBC, PD or SC, ST. Then how can I be denied of admission?" said Subhankar Dey, a medical candidate.
