Max Verstappen clarifies Jacques Villeneuve remarks

Villeneuve criticised Verstappen's defensive driving at Spa

Max Verstappen has clarified his remarks about Jacques Villeneuve after the former world champion criticised his driving.

Villeneuve warned that Verstappen "could kill someone" in the wake of the Red Bull driver's aggressive defence against Kimi Raikkonen at Spa.

Verstappen was then quoted in the Dutch press denouncing Villeneuve and citing the crash at the 2001 Australian GP in which a steward was killed when an untethered wheel flew off the Canadian's car after a collision with Ralf Schumacher.

"To be clear, I said it was disrespectful to the families to talk about death," explained Verstappen.

"I said it was disrespectful from his side to talk about deaths."
