After Paan Singh Tomar, Malkhan biopic to hit screens
BHOPAL: After successful biopic on bandit of yesteryears Pan Singh Tomar, a Bollywood film has been produced on Malkhan Singh, former dreaded dacoit of Chambal ravines who surrendered in 1982. In a small function held at Shivpuri on Saturday, Malkhan released the poster of Dadda Malkhan , a flim based on his life .
This was third such programme. In the past two days similar poster release programmes were held at Gwalior and Bhind also.
Yogi films international has produced the biopic which was shot mostly in Gwalior and various districts of Chambal division including Bhind.
“It is likely to be released by the month end”, Malkhan told TOI over phone from Shivpuri after releasing the poster. Though I also worked in the film, I did not take any money, he claimed.
The movie depicts the story of villager Lakhan Singh, the circumstances in which he became a bandit and then back to a villager, film director Mukesh Choukse told the media in Shivpuri.
Talking to TOI, Malkhan said, “ Before the film went to floor and the shoot started, I sat down with the film makers to let them understand my story. I was bothered about the facts and wanted to ensure that the movie is based on facts.”
Malkhan who now owns about 18 bigha of land in Guna said, “ I spent most of the time in performing puja, have built a temple in Bhind also. Its good to be a religious man than moving around netas who never fulfil the promises that they made to the people.”
Expressing concern over rising number of cases of rape , the former bandit said, ‘ look, three year old girls are being raped. The police would earlier kill bandits in false encounter to get a promotion. Now the rapists move around freely.’
