THANE: Three persons have been booked for allegedly duping a 42-year-old Vikhroli resident to the tune of Rs 6 lakh by promising him and his sister a job in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Central Bank.
The victim, Prashant Indulkar (42), had met the accused, Ashok Bhoir, his sons Akshay and Rajendra, resident of Wagle Estate in 2014. The trio had then promised to provide Indulkar and his sister with a job for which they would have to pay Rs 6 lakh.
‘‘The Bhoir’s had told them that they had good contacts with higher ups in the BMC and Central Bank. So, they would not have a problem to get jobs there,’’ a police official said.
The trio had also asked the victims to get a medical check up done as it would speed up the process. The accused then handed over a copy of their appointment letter. When the victim’s questioned them over the original appointment letter, they keep dilly-dallying him. When they did not get the letter till a few months ago, they lodged a complaint with the police.
