MARGAO:Fatorda Independent MLA, Vijai Sardesai on Friday opined that the recent revolt within the highly-disciplined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was a major jolt to the BJP.
He emphasized on the remark made by India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru that “Goa ke log ajeeb hai” (Goa’s people are unique) and will not rebel or revolt rather tolerate any decision being imposed upon them.

Stating that he did not wish to comment on the ongoing conflict within the RSS Goa unit being an ‘internal matter’ of the organization, Sardesai praised those who revolted and also welcomed the decision of the ‘cultural organization’ Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) to transform itself into a new Goan political party.
“Though I am a strong Konkani protagonist, I do not agree with the BBSM views as I believe in providing freedom to the parents to choose medium of instruction for their children. I cannot ignore the commitment of BBSM to not get BJP elected in Goa. Hence, there is now a need for BJP to project AAP as their real rival to cut into the non-BJP votes which now will be done more aggressively,” he told a press conference.
Urging for unity amongst all non-BJP forces with a common minimum programme to oust BJP from Goa, Sardesai on Friday hinted of having commenced talks with the Congress High Command on this subject.
Hitting out at AAP, he said it is only a matter of time when people will agitate and revolt in the Aam Admi Party (AAP) due to it’s duplicity. The Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is silent on the main issues of Goa like the medium of instruction (MOI), mining, Regional Plan (RP), casinos, etc. What is the stand of AAP on these issues? There is no unanimity. Is AAP trying to help BJP in Goa? AAP should clarify its position instead of only campaigning in the minority-dominated constituencies in Salcete taluka.
