Batote, September 2

Most of the areas in and around Batote were without electricity since Thursday early morning due to damage to the receiving station following heavy rainfall and lightning. The power was restored late this evening.

The area including Batote town, its villages, famous tourist resort Sanasar and some villages of Assar tehsil of Doda district plunged into darkness at 2 am on Thursday. Due to lightening, the panels of the receiving station at Dharmoond here were extensively damaged. As a result, the power supply through the essential line feeder catering to essential installments like the BSNL Exchange and the district hospital was also stopped at 6 am on Thursday.

The staff of the Power Development Department (PDD) led by Executive Engineer Sanjiv Kailu worked relentlessly to restore the power.
