Sangrur, September 1

In view of the deteriorating health condition of Rashi Goyal and Tanveer Khan, teachers at FCS Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Gandhuan village, who were observing fast since August 26 on the school premises, the administration today shifted them to the Civil Hospital in Sunam. In their place, teachers Amandeep Sharma and Gurdip Singh started fasting from today. These teachers are demanding the implementation of the CBSE pay scales.

Amandeep said their talks with company officials managing Adarsh Schools under the PPP mode at Gandhuan village (near Sunam) and Balad Khurd village (near Bhawanigarh) had failed the previous evening. He said the company officials were not ready to give them more than the basic pay of the CBSE pay scales, but they wanted CBSE pay scales with all allowances.

Atul Gupta, a leader of the agitating teachers at Balad Khurd, said they had given a new proposal to the company. As per the proposal, they want basic pay along with annual increment of Rs 2,500 or more from the date of appointment of the teacher. — TNS
