‘Police torture’: UN asked to intervene

MOGA: The Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has asked the United Nations to intervene in a case of alleged torture of four Sikh youths by the Hoshiarpur police a couple of weeks ago.

Moga, September 1

The Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has asked the United Nations to intervene in a case of alleged torture of four Sikh youths by the Hoshiarpur police a couple of weeks ago. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal adviser to the SFJ, said he had also submitted a report prepared by the Lawyers for Human Rights International, a Chandigarh-based group of human rights lawyers. Pannun claimed that these youths were campaigning for the SFJ to garner public support for seeking a referendum on a “free homeland for the Sikh community.” TNS
