Fund transfer irks PTU staff

Chandigarh: Office-bearers of the teachers’, non-teaching staff and officers’ unions of Punjab Technical University (PTU) met Sampla at the BJP headquarters on Thursday.



Chandigarh: Office-bearers of the teachers’, non-teaching staff and officers’ unions of Punjab Technical University (PTU) met Sampla at the BJP headquarters on Thursday. They said the state government was forcing the university to transfer Rs 500 crore out of its corpus fund to Maharaja Ranjit Singh University, Bathinda. The delegation said PTU did not have excess funds for another university. Yadwinder Singh, president of the non-teaching staff union, said Rs 75 crore had already been transferred. Sampla promised to look into the matter. Technical Education Minister Madan Mohan Mittal, under whose ministry PTU falls, was not present at the meeting. TNS
