Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao released the draft electoral roll here on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, he said that a total of 24,95,780 voters — 12,61,617 women, 12,34,062 men and 101 others — from the 10 Assembly constituencies in the district found place in the roll which would be on display at the Collectorate, taluk offices and office of the Tahsildars. Those residing in the Corporation of Madurai limits could check their names at their respective offices of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) and at Anna Maaligai (Corporation office complex).

To facilitate addition and deletion of names and for making other amendments, special camps would be conducted on September 11 and 25. On September 10 and 24, gram sabha meetings would be held in which public could raise queries on the draft electoral roll.

Online registration was accepted for inclusion of names through elections.tn.gov.in/eregistration and through electoralservicessearch.azurewebsites.net.

Public could check for their names in the electoral rolls, Mr. Veera Raghava Rao said and added that Madurai East had the highest number of voters (2,80,621) and Sholavandan the least with 2,05,603 voters.

Those born before December 31,1999, would be eligible for enrolment in the voter list. Age proof was mandatory for those filing fresh applications in the age group of 18 to 24 years. For those aged above 24 years, the address in which they were earlier residing was essential, in the event of change, he said.

District Revenue Officer Velusamy, Deputy Commissioner (Corporation of Madurai) Shanti, RDOs Senthilkumari and Benedict Dharmaroy and Suganya, and PA (General) Arumuga Nainar participated. Later, the Collector presided over a meeting in which representatives from recognised political parties attended, a press release said.
