Lovebirds found hanging from tree in Siwan village
Patna: Bodies of two young lovers – Jitendra Kumar Sah (25) and Savita Kumari (22) – were found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances on the outskirts of Dhabolia village under Maharajganj police station in Siwan district on Thursday. Both Jitendra and Savita were residents of Dhabolia village.
While Savita’s family members said it was a case of suicide, Jitendra’s mother Shivkumari Kunwar, in her statement to police, alleged that her son was killed by the girl’s family members.
SHO of Maharajganj police station Mejaz Hussain said that in her complaint to the police, Shivkumari held Savita’s brother Rajesh Shrama, father Ishwar Lal Sharma and two more members of the family – Dayal Lal Sharma and Anil Sharma – responsible for the “murder”.
“Jitendra and Savita were in a relationship for the past three to four years. Jitendra, who was working as a daily wager at Vadodara in Gujarat, had arrived at Siwan on Wednesday without informing his family members.
The SHO added that no injury marks were found on the bodies of the two young lovers. “The bodies were hanging from a tree near a railway track on the outskirts of the village,” Hussain added. He said the police were investigating the case from all angles. “It could even be a case of honour killing,” Hussain said.
According to the SHO, Shivkumari told the police that Savita’s brother Rajesh came to her residence on Wednesday and asked for her son’s cellphone number. “When I refused, he threatened me with dire consequences,” the SHO quoted Shivkumari as saying.
Siwan ASP Arvind Kumar Gupta said the police were waiting for post-mortem report to ascertain whether it was a case of suicide or murder. “Jitendra’s cellphone, which had been recovered from the spot, may provide us vital clues,” the ASP added.
