800 served notice over non-payment of water bills

Jal Sansthan officials have sent notice to 800 people in Haldwani over alleged non-payment of water bills. Officials claimed that Jal Sansthan has to collect dues amounting to almost Rs 5 crore from 3,000 people in Haldwani who have not paid their water bills. Notice will be served to more people in the coming days, officials said.

Nainital: Jal Sansthan officials have sent notice to 800 people in Haldwani over alleged non-payment of water bills. Officials claimed that Jal Sansthan has to collect dues amounting to almost Rs 5 crore from 3,000 people in Haldwani who have not paid their water bills. Notice will be served to more people in the coming days, officials said.
Santosh Upadhyay, executive engineer, Haldwani Circle, Jal Sansthan, said, “We have already served notice to defaulters and hope to recover the amount soon.”
Upadhyay said that the amount recovered will be very helpful to the department which is already facing funds crunch.

“To keep the water supply going without any hassles, which includes prevention of contamination of water, is our priority but unless we are equipped with resources this is not possible,” added the executive engineer.
Some of the areas facing water crisis in the city are Niliam colony, Parvati Vihar, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Kusumkhera, Satyalok colony, Indira Nagar, Judge Farm, Fateh Nagar, Pithoria, Jawahar nagar, Valmiki basti, Heera nagar, Awas vikas, Tikonia area, Transport Nagar and Dhobi Ghat.
