One held for thefts at credit societies

PUNE: The Nigdi police recently detected two thefts at cooperative credit societies in Nigdi area with the arrest of a 23-year-old suspect.
The police have identified the suspect as Mangesh Kalyan Tekale (23) of Sharadchandra Housing Society, Ota Scheme, Nigdi. The Nigdi police team led by senior inspector Vijaykumar Palsule has made the arrest.
Palsule said that following an increase in the cases of burglaries and vehicle thefts in Nigdi area, he had fanned two special teams to curb these crimes.

Police constables Mahesh Gamare and Jamir Tamboli of the special team were carry out patrolling in Yamunagar area, when they got tip-off about the suspect Tekale. “We laid a trap in Yamunanagar area. Seeing the policemen Tekale started running away. Our team nabbed his after a chase,” Palsule said.
Palsule said that during the questioning Tekale admitted his involvement in the thefts of two cooperative credit societies at Yamunanagar and in Akurdi recently. “The suspect Tekale along with his minor accomplice had burgled the cooperative credit societies,” Palsule said.
The investigating team comprised police inspector Shankar Autade, assistant inspectors Devendra Chavan and Dilip Sable, police constable Anand Chavan.
Sub-inspector of the Nigdi police station VS Valte is further investigating the case.
