Wanted Maoist held in Giridih

Giridih police, in a joint raid with security forces, on Tuesday evening arrested a wanted CPI (Maoist) cadre from Jharha forest area under Pirtand police station, about 30km from the district headquarters.

Dhanbad: Giridih police, in a joint raid with security forces, on Tuesday evening arrested a wanted CPI (Maoist) cadre from Jharha forest area under Pirtand police station, about 30km from the district headquarters.
The rebel has been identified by police as Vijay Murmu, alias Ratan Manjhi, resident of Maski Kala locality under Vishnugargh police station of Hazaribag district.
Security forces also seized arms and ammunitions, uniforms, Naxal literature, pamphlets and other gadgets from his possession.
Apart from his involvement in a recent encounter with security forces in Jharha Pahari forest, Murmu was allegedly involved in various other Maoist-related incidents in Bokaro, Hazaribag and other areas across the region, police said.
"He (Murmu) was a member of the outfit's armed squad for close to six years and was involved in more than a dozen Naxal-related incidents in Pirtand and suburban areas," said ASP (operations) Kunal Kumar. tnn
