Uttarakhand polls: JP Nadda, Dharmendra Pradhan get BJP’s reins
NEW DELHI: BJP president Amit Shah appointed Union ministers JP Nadda and Dharmendra Pradhan as poll in-charges for Uttarakhand while Prakash Javadekar was named in the same role for Manipur as the party starts its preparations for elections to five states next year.
Recently, Shah had appointed highways minister Nitin Gadkari as election in -charge of Goa, another pollbound state.
BJP is striving to return to power in Uttarakhand, where the Congress government led by Harish Rawat is facing strong anti-incumbency. Appointment of two senior Union ministers indicates that the party is looking to capitalise on the opportunity.
The Supreme Court had recently restored the Rawat government after central rule had been imposed in the state.
