Senior Vice President of Punjab Congress Sunil Kumar Jakhar Wednesday demanded that the report of Zora Singh Commission constituted to probe the police firing at Behbal Kalan last year should be made public and discussed in the upcoming session of Vidhan Sabha.
Addressing the media in Chandigarh Wednesday, Jakhar said it was shocking that the report was not made public while in Haryana, the Prakash Singh Commission report was put up on the government’s website on the same day.
He said the Punjab government was evading a debate on the report and insisted that the report and the law and order situation in Punjab should be discussed on the floor of the House.
He also said that the issue of pellet guns to ward off agitators in Kashmir had become a national issue but in Punjab, the agitators, who were protesting against the Bargadi sacrilege in a peaceful manner, were opened fire at and killed.
