Sainsbury's Extends Local Craft-Beer Lines In Scotland

Sainsbury’s is adding 32 new craft beers to its range in Scottish stores, including new products from three small Scottish breweries. The addition of West Brewery, Tempest and Isle of Skye brings the total amount of Scottish breweries supplying Sainsbury’s to 21.

Sainsbury’s works closely with 18 breweries in Scotland, including Harviestoun, William Brothers and Cairngorm Brewery, which are all launching new products with the UK retailer.

The craft-beer sector within Sainsbury’s is currently seeing double-digit growth in Scottish stores, as the category extends further to offer a wider choice of locally produced beer, ale and cider.

Kenny Webster, managing director of Isle of Skye Brewing, said, “The appetite for craft beers among consumers is growing rapidly. Customers want a beer with real character, and they want to experiment with their purchases, so Sainsbury’s commitment to stocking Scottish products is really encouraging, and we’re proud to be a part of the announcement. “

The new craft beers will be available in Sainsbury’s 97 stores across Scotland from the end of August.
